Canon BJC-50 printer and scanner working with Windows 7?

I have a Canon BJC-50 printer with the scanner cartridge.  I have ordered a USB to parallel cable adapter to be able to connect it to my laptop computers, since I don't have a parallel port.  The Windows 7 compatibility page says this printer is compatible with Windows 7.  Canon is telling me it isn't.

Has anyone successfully connected and used a Canon BJC-50 with Windows 7?  If so, were there any issue?

Answer

Hi - same issue with Canon BJC-80. Windows says is compatible and Canon says not! My BJC-80 prints OK with a USB/parrallel cable and installs via Windows 7 OK - but the printer response time is in minutes from hitting a "Print" comand in any program eg. MS Word 2010?

Guess we are victims of technology creep and need to buy a new printer - shame as I have loads of cartridges left!
