How to restore original windows 7 icons for shortcuts

Hello,

I use Windows 7 professional. In a completely unexpected way (probably after having installed Nero essentials 8) all the pictures for my shortcut icons (with the classic arrow) have changed. Now ALL my shortcuts are represented with the same icon representing files that are not associated with any program (generic icon).  Now it's very difficult to distinguish things and to distinguish between folders and programs.

Notice that this only happen with shortcuts, all other icons are right.

Iconcache.db is not longer available in Windows 7 or at least, I can't find it.

I don't even know if it's a cache problem of if the icon itself for shortcuts is corrupted or missing.

I tried system restore five times, I tries each restorepoints that would be anterior to the problem but it doesn't solve it at all.

Is there any way to solve the issue without reinstalling windows?

Sincerely

Danilo Renzi

Answer

Hello,

problem solved. The responsible was a tweaker the "EnhanceMySe7en" tweaker. After a software update of the tweaker, it configured itself to not show shortcuts arrows. This made that the picture of these icons didin't show correctly. This also made that the iconcache.db file were not available. I fixed the problem configuring it the proper way.

Sincerely
