System image recovery password incorrect

I`m able to log on to my PC with Pin, also to all live-Services but when i try to do a System Image recovery, it doesn't accept my Password.

I entered it correctly, because i showed it with clicking on the right Symbol to show Passwort.

Kind regards,

Markus

Hi Markus,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience caused, I will be glad to assist you with this.

To better assist you, do let us know if you are logged in through the admin account. Also, what is the error message you receive when you enter the password.

You mentioned that you use PIN to sign in to Window. Just to make sure the password is correct, I would suggest you to try signing in through password by following the steps below and check:

1. In the sign in Window, click the "sign in options".

2. Choose the option to "sign in with a password".

3. Check if it accepts the password.

If that doesn't help, try resetting your Microsoft password following the link below and check again. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Why can't you sign in?

Let us know the result.

Thanks for your assistance:

I have not Problems loging into Windows account, so Login via pin on PC works, also via complete Password. Im able to Login to live Services via browser.

But when i boot to System recovery and try to do a System Image recovery, it say "Password incorrect".

Afer several attempts, i decided to boot via USB Install Media i*ve created 11.2015, and i was able to  Login to System Image recovery console with the same Password i always use. Recovery was usccessfull, but i decided to do a clean install with a newly created USB boot stick with the latest Windows 10 Setup from 02.2016.

Seems to be an issue with an update maybe?

Kind regards

Well I guess my backup is just lost too.

I'll refrain from expressing my personal feelings about this matter in polite company.

SOLUTION FOUND (for my specific case anyway)

I had been launching the system image restore from StartMenu->SettingsGear->Update&Security->Recovery->Advanced startup.

Instead I tried initiating the recovery by booting from my original USB Windows 10 install media. At the install dialog (after selecting keyboard, etc.) I hit tab to select the 'Repair or Recovery'*.

I was then able to restore from the backup without it requesting a password.

* I couldn't see the actual name of this button because it's out of view due to the non-resizeable dialog box being too small to show it at the bottom. This is a problem with all the dialogs in the early installation process likely due to font sizing problems on my high resolution display.

Hi, I had the same problem but I found a work around! First your going to need to get the hidden admin account, (at first I thought this account would work) just google how to activate hidden admin on whatever windows version your running then once your on the administrator account push windows key+x and click on command prompt(admin) then in the command line type reagentc /boottore then enter now restart it should take you to the recovery and now it dosnt require a password

Had the same problem, very strange issue that seems to be related with signing in/unlocking via PIN. For me it was fixed by: Logging off -> Signing in with password (instead of PIN)-> Starting System Recovery again. Password was accepted just fine in that situation, were the same password was rejected while I was logged in with PIN.

I have the same problem with System Image Recovery.  I can not get Windows to load and I am trying to run diagnostics and it keeps asking for my password. I thought it would be my Microsoft password but no luck. I always use my PIN to sign into Windows.
