2017 Jan 24 Windows 10 Pro version 1607 Updates KB3211320, KB3214628, and unidentified Feature Updates

Last night (20170124) Windows 10 indicated updates needed to be scheduled.

Completed at 3:00am (20170125) After logging in Windows had to configure itself.

In these first few minutes these are the problems discovered so far:

1. Had to re-register Microsoft Office.
2. Can't access internet through EDGE (Fortunately have GoogleChrome and it allows access).
3. Excel doesn't seem stable, as locked up a few times in the last hour.

Once again Microsoft is not fully testing the updates it pushes, then waits for feedback from the users Microsoft tortures. I expect there will be another update in the future to correct the update just completed.

3:00pm edit: I worked most of the day (using Email, Excel, and Google Chrome) and have seen all of the replies and suggestions.  A few minutes ago I restarted (re-booted) the PC and Microsoft EDGE now works! Hopefully everything else functions as well. FYI: Since the update problem I had in September with the much larger Windows 10 update, where I reverted Windows to the earlier version before  the update, and then received the corrected update in October (that actually worked) I have delayed Windows being updated automatically as long as the schedule allows me to (I wouldn't let it update for a year if I could).  I have learned over several years that a Windows update or a Virus protection software update are the main reasons problems occur. In the case of Windows 10 being so knew I think a lot of the software companies had to learn how to ensure their software was tested and retested for correct functionality, and this includes Microsoft testing between their software products (Windows10, EDGE, OFFICE) and then testing with other companies software. A significant task for those companies which I understand, but in most cases I would prefer to have my PC running then to have to go through the experience, the trial and error, the clicking here then there, they provide when these companies do updates (not to mention the time lost). My guess is the updates that were installed 3:00am this morning, rebooted the computer, and then one of those other updates listed in the subject box, loaded and needed another re-boot which is maybe why EDGE works after the 3:00pm restart. Thank you Microsoft for another worthy experience!

This update deleted my whole taskbar and start menu config, now I have to add again all my 30 apps shortcuts to the start menu.

This update occurred last night.  When I got to work this morning my second monitor had no display.  So I rebooted, the splash screen showed up on my second monitor (Screen#1), then it moved over to Screen #2.  When I logged in everything appeared on Screen#2.  Screen#1 says no signal.  I checked all the connections, foolishly because the Windows splash screen showed up on that monitor meaning it is connected.

Any idea on how to fix this....I have tried everything

When I woke up this morning Sunday 9-25-2016 6:00am my Windows 10 Pro PC was updating and at 93%....It indicates not to turn off the PC...Microsoft Support...opened a Case number 1356511532...I will turn off (automatic) updates when I can access my PC. [SOURCE]

1. Assuming it's the same computer as in your 25 Sept-16 post cited in the quote above, when did you turn on automatic updates again?

2. Why wasn't KB3214628 installed weeks ago?

3. Were you running Win10 1607 on 25 Sept-16 and if not, when (approx. date) was Win10 Anniversary Update installed? Was it offered & installed via Windows Update or did you install it manually?

Brianmcd1, I had a very similar problem with the Windows updated in December. The description of the update says it "fixed" some issues with dual monitors, but in reality it messed up my dual monitors: one of them will say "no signal" after the computer resumes from sleep. I need to disconnect the monitor and plug in again.

I edited my original message which will probably provide most of the answers to your questions.

It is the same PC, and because of the experience in September I delayed further updates for as long as Microsoft would allow me.

I have been using Windows 10 Pro 32-64bit (mostly 64bit since March 2016 when I assembled this PC. I am not certain what version was running in September. I just looked back at the Settings-Update-Update history and it only shows the updates in 2017  (the three I noted in the original subject box). The Win 10 Anniversary update was updated in Oct, automatically..... After the September problem, I delayed updates (or so I thought) then a couple of weeks later (in October) the Anniversary update loaded...... and actually worked. So then I found out I had to do another step to make the actual schedule Update delay occur. Which I have now forgotten what it was, however I remember Enterprise users could delay updates for a year, which I was envious of.

This is the third batch of Win10 updates that has broken a SAGE PDF Converter for electronic delivery. I cant seem to pinpoint what is causing it. But whenever one of my client computers is forced windows updates on their windows 10 machine they can no longer send electronically through paperless office in SAGE100.

The fix is to uninstall the SAGE PDF Converter and then reinstall it on the affected PC using an admins credentials. You have to uninstall and reinstall using the pl_advancedoptions_ui menu.

Does anyone know what specifically is causing this to happen?

Luckily I only have 6 users with windows 10 machines, but uninstalling and reinstalling the PDF Converter every-time Microsoft pushes out an update is getting really old.

My computer has updated today with KB 3211320 and now I can't access the internet at all. Tried Edge Chrome and Firefox and nothing works. Right click uninstall is disabled on this update so thank you Microsoft. I've tried clearing history cache and restarting a number of times. Any suggestions that aren't too technical please?
