Windows 10 Update - TWINUI Issues

I recently installed the updates to Windows 10 and since the update, I've been unable to access the tiles in the start menu. I'm also not able to use the Microsoft Widows Photo view. When I right click and select "open with", it shows a program named "TWINUI" instead of the normal application.

Thanks for replying Vinodh. Here are the answers to your questions.

1. Does this issue is specific to tiles on the Start menu?

It affects most of the Windows default tiles in the start menu - Email, Windows Photos, Chat, Video, Maps, Camera, Xbox, Microsoft Store

2. Are you able to access other options on Start menu?

Only the apps/programs that I've installed

3. What happens when you try to access the apps directly?

Nothing happens. There's a quick flash like the app is opening, then nothing.

4. Do you get any error message while accessing the tiles from the Start menu?

No error message.

I tried your default settings suggestion and instead of the Microsoft Photo app, it says TWINUI

Hi,

My apologies for the delayed response.

Did you make any hardware or software changes prior to this issue?

You need at least 1024 X 768 screen resolution for modern apps to work. The Windows apps will not work in screen resolution less than 1024 X 768. To snap apps, you need a screen resolution of at least 1366 x 768. Make sure that the screen resolution meets these requirements. You can check this by:

1.
Right-click the mouse from the desktop interface and select Display Settings >Display > Advanced display settings.
2. Check the screen resolution shown there. It should be at least 1024 X 768.

Also, make sure the User Account Control (UAC) is enabled in the computer. To enable the User Account Control on the computer follow these steps:

1. Type "Account Control" in the search bar on desktop and press "Enter".
2. In the "User Account Control Settings" window, move the slider to the default settings and click "OK".

If issue persists, I suggest you to run the App troubleshooter to fix issues that may prevent Windows apps from working properly.

Click here to download and run the Apps troubleshooter.

Get back to us if you are facing further issue, we will be happy to assist.

Thank you.

The resolution on my laptop is 1366 x 768.

I tried running the app troubleshooter but unfortunately it wasn't able to detect the issue. Any other suggestions?

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response. I tried to setup a new profile and copy the files. Unfortunately I do not have enough room on the hard drive so I'll need to buy an external drive to back everything up to, then transfer over. Once that is complete, I will let you know if it worked.

Thanks

You need to be logged in as an administrator in order to access that folder. Make sure the new user is an administrator.
