Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Keyboard OProblem

I've had my Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard for several years and it has served me well.

Recently a problem came up where the keys wouldn’t work as they were intended to. The keys are functioning to the press, but several letters have this weird output as such

Pressing “u” once gives me:

-+sag7dwqte\yi89

‘hk56f;rpouljZ|V4X?BM23C><N        -wqte\yi89

Rpou

Pressingj” once gives me:

+SAG7D’HK56F;LJ

Pressing8” once gives me:

1326*4[79]5-08

Coincidentally they are all on the same strip downwards on the keyboard. Is this some sort of program or driver problem or is something physically spoil? I have tried deleting and installing the Microsoft keyboard drivers RPOULJTz|v4x?bm23c><n but to no avail.

Hi Zack. I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Try running the Keyboard Troubleshooter at Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot.

Try updating the software from here: https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/d/s...

If that fails right click Start to open Device Manager, choose keyboard device, right click to Uninstall, mouse to the Restart button in Start Menu, restart PC to reinstall driver.

See more Troubleshooting Steps here: https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/sup...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

If you happen to have the Microsoft Intellitype software installed, uninstalling it might help.

also:

Press Windows key + X
Click Device Manager
Expand Keyboards
Right click keyboard
Click Uninstall

Exit Device Manager then restart, check the keyboard works again.
