Windows 10 photo app. where are my photos stored?

Once my photos are in the photo app where are they, in relation to my hard drive? file name, extension. 

I can't find them anywhere on my laptops hard drive. 

If I can't find them on the hard drive. How do I move my pictures out of the photo app to an external hard drive?

Hi Chris,

All the photos that you see in the photos app are normally retrieved from the "pictures" folder by default. I suggest you to try checking in that folder and see if you are able to find the photos. Press Windows key + E > Click "pictures" on the left pane.

If it is not available in that particular folder, follow the steps below and check again.

1. Open the photo/photos you would like to locate, through the photos app.

2. Right click on the photo and select "file info".

3. On the left hand side of the window under "folder path", copy the folder path.

4. Press Windows key + R, paste the folder path in the run command and press enter.
