Welcome to the New Skype Community on Microsoft Community

The Skype Community has now moved to the Microsoft Community. 

Getting started

If you currently login to Skype or the existing community with your Skype name then we would encourage you, when you first login in to the Microsoft community, to open a private window and use the private window to login to the community. To use the Microsoft Community with your Skype name, you will need to upgrade your Skype name to a full Microsoft account by either converging your skype name and your Microsoft account or creating a new Microsoft email address to attach to your Skype name.

You can find guidance on how to post using the participate button above and the Microsoft Community team have put together a great FAQ on everything from joining a discussion to managing your profile and I would encourage you to read it before you post.

For a quick start see the Getting started guide.

By utilising the Microsoft community, we can plug the feedback from community directly into the product teams in Microsoft, helping to surface your comments, votes and ideas into the heart of our engineering decisions internally.

You will also be able to participate in other Microsoft communities with the same profile.

The Skype community is a place to get help when you encounter a problem, tell us about things you would like to see in the client or just chat about topics of interest. To keep everyone in the community safe and to prevent unwelcome behaviour we have published a code of conduct, which you agreed to when you signed up, you can view this at any time here.

Welcome to the Skype Community. We already have a Skype Preview for Windows phone but its not formally part of the Skype Insider program. Builds for Windows and Windows phone are distributed from the Windows insider program.

Please do go and sign up for it there.

I am a chair of NATAS subcommittee investigation responsible to research  Technical Emmy award for Consumer Video conferencing technology used for TV broadcasting. Skype is such a technology. Hi Allen! 

I was a member of the Italian Skype Community with the name of the HXY Profile with Ranking of Navigator with 5055 Post, 321 Solutions and 715 Kudos and all worked well by sending responses at any time and without any number limits for messages sent to users who have need an answer as much as possible within the acceptable time limits to try to solve their problems. And sometimes you need several responses to the same place to get a desirable solution. And if in the Microsoft Community there is a limit on the answers, it is no longer possible to examine other solutions if the proposed solutions do not solve the problem only 24 hours after the last response. I joined the Italian Microsoft Community on May 25 with the name of the HXY2 profile to voluntarily provide my Skype Community experience and I find a recurring problem with Skype user messages. I can send a maximum of 4 responses and then the message "There was an error - please try again later". Despite the subsequent attempts, I can send only answer after 24 hours of my last reply. Can not send more than 4 responses to the Microsoft Community? I look forward to your kind and friendly response. Best regards!

Hey there, 

This is quite strange, but it could be the system detecting spam. Although you may not be spamming, we do get a lot of users who come to the community to spam and advertise. To protect other members, we have a system in place that the engineering team actively review and tweak that helps prevent spam. 

This is what could be causing problems for you posting. And because its a newly created profile, more reason as to why it's the spam prevention system that's doing this.

Just rolled back to the old, classic Skype. Hallelulya! The new one is a nightmare. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, Microsoft.

Hi Andy,

I am also running an older version of Skype as I have a Windows 8 phone that won't update to 10.  I am hoping it will keep working after July 1st but I did get a warning that I am running a version of Skype that will not work after that date.  Have you gotten the same warning?

I am pulling my hair out at these latest versions of Skype both on Windows 10 and mobile app for iOS.

Why can't I just set it so I can see who is online? From a business perspective, I don't want to scroll through to see who is online. I just want to see who is...so frustrating. Fantastic that you can change colour and all that other nonsense but all I want to do is SKYPE!!!
