Release Notes for Skype 8.68

The latest Skype version 8.68 is out. There are cool new features in this release like Background Blur on Android devices. You asked, we delivered! 

Skype for Windows, Linux, and Web 

  • React Hard 2: React Harder: We've upgraded your custom reaction picker, and you can now have more reactions right at your fingertips. Learn more about reactions in Skype. 
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements. We've disappeared some bugs and cleaned the place up a bit. 

Skype for Android, iPhone, and iPad 

  • React Hard 2: React Harder: We've upgraded your custom reaction picker, and you can now have more reactions right at your fingertips. Learn more about reactions in Skype. 
  • Share away: We've made some improvements to the Share extension in Skype for iPhone and iPad, adding support for dark theme and improving performance. 
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements. We've disappeared some bugs and cleaned the place up a bit. 

What’s fixed? 

  • Virtual cameras on MacOS X are working again 
  • Missing sound in Voice Messages
  • Performance issues with the Emoji picker

The new features are rolling out gradually over the next couple of days so if you don’t see them right away, just check again soon!

Glad to see continued improvements. Please consider more:

  • Allow people to join a call without signing in when using the app, not  just the web browser version. This becomes the number one issue for people when I try to coax them to use Skype over Zoom. They can't log in because they haven't used their password in years! This seems most problematic for those joining by devices other than Windows (Safari is less compatible, iOS seems to require the app). Billions of people have a Skype account but long ago forgot their passwords.
  • Allow for meetings that don't persist. I love persistent chat but there is too much of a good thing. Allow a moderator of a call to have the chat automatically delete after 24 hours after the end of the call. Sure, persistent chat is great for regular family meetings, clubs and classes. But a lot of "meet now" scenarios are a one-time meeting, at least for the people involved that time, especially with larger groups, that it's nice to keep conversations free of those unnecessary entanglements.

Bonjour, j'ai une proposition : 

Pour personnaliser l'interface, il faudrait pouvoir changer le fond d'ecran de chaque conversation. Avec des photos proposees, ou nos propres photos.

Please bring Skype to Facebook Portal as they allow other services - Zoom, WhatsApp, GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, Cisco WebEx are already on it but I want Skype as everyone I know has a Microsoft account.

Help!  I receive a lot of calls to my skype number that come in from an IVR or Interactive Voice Response that prompts me to select an option in order to be connected with the caller but even tho I choose the prompt it is as if I have not selected anything hence I end up losing the call! Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this or what could be the issue!?

Eliminate Skype Name as soon as possible, and replace it with the Microsoft account.

I am using skype on linux : version 8.67.0.96. I am not able to see the screen share option when I make call. Here is screenshot : 

Is there solution on it?

"Background redacted: Now you can blur your background in video calls on Skype for Android."

Are there any special hardware requirements for background blur on android? On both of my Android devices, this feature is not available, not even in the preview app.

does this version cure the problem with poor sound on skype with bluetooth earphones? this problem only exist on skype. my ear phones work fine with zoom etc
