Xbox.com DR2 downloading issues

Hello all,

I'm not sure if this is unique or if there is a resolution I'm missing, but I can not download the free Dead Rising 2 game via xbox.com because I do not have a payment option set up (point being recently removed) and I do not want a payment option on file as microsoft has a habit of helping themselves to auto-renewal of membership. I have control of my finances, not microsoft. :) So, how do I go about downloading this game when I'm 2 hour away from my console and the webpage won't allow me to download to my console without a payment option?

As a side note, why as a Gold member do I need to select any payment option at all for free games? Seems redundant.

 I'm not sure why they did not transfer you to someone in the billing department to verify.  I would try calling again and when the person asks how they can assist ask them to speak to someone in the billing department because your account has supposedly been flagged for past payment.  Hopefully they should transfer you and you can clear up your account issue, whatever it may be.  Please keep us posted.

I'm in the USA. I've tried using that page and every time I click something, the "working" circles pop up for a second and then disappear with no change to the page.

if you read the forum faq the update just happened yesterday

that is why you must do it on the console and the website hasn't been updated

I was told that the support person believes there is an issue on my xbox with some past payment having been flagged despite me not having any form of payment option on my account for over a year now nor having my account having issues previously with downloading free for gold member games. He also stated that without talking to the billing department, it was really just a guess in the dark.

So unfortunately, I can't download a free game without a payment option because of the support persons guess as to what the issue is. In the end, there was no resolution and I'm still unable to download or set to download this game. GG Microsoft, your website and system is designed of fail. I'm so glad that I'm not buying the next gen console and am moving to PC gaming. Maybe you should have Valve give you classes on how to handle digital distribution.

well your best option would be to download via your console why dont you do that?

if you aren't physically in the us you will have region errors even if you use a vpn

actually i suggest you read the family share program

which actually puts valve to shame

the ability to share your games with 10 friends without leaving your house or lending the disk

the free for gold program is easier on the console itself i dont know why you are so reliant on the website

the website isn't setup yet for the new currency option as you cannot use your ms account like the currency

it just came out this morning

did you expect everything to be updated this soon?

why not login into your xbox and download it and  enjoy the bliss of free games

unless you are using a vpn to try and queue a game

or you can fix it yourself

it is simple

the MS currency system is only on the console atm

so all you have to do to use ms account is use your console to make the purchase as it is set up for the currency option

if you want to add a billing option later yes you do need to talk to billing

autorenewal is never turned on unless you make a new subscription purchase

next time read the contracts you sign before you buy the 1dollar a month deal
