Xbox Wont Let Me Played Installed Game

When I try to play Saints Row 2 from my HDD a message comes up saying "You can only play this game on the console and storage device it was originally installed on. To play on this console, delete and reinstall the game."

However I cannot do this as I used a friends disc to install it as mine was too scratched to install (hence the reason I installed it), so if I delete the game I can't reinstall it.

When I got the new console I transferred everything via USB and had no problems playing this game on this console up until now.

The console also recently got fixed by Microsoft.

Sorry for the long post but i'm trying to give as much info as possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is sounds to me as though when you got the console back from MS it was not the one you sent them, but a refurbished unit. That would explain why the game will not read.

Unfortunately you have two choices OP if you do not want to buy the game yourself again.
Borrow the game from a friend and re install it.
Rent the game and re install it.

But the game will not work again until you delete and reinstall it while your HDD is attached to the new console.

Thanks for the info but the strange thing is I checked the serial number when I got it back and it's the same however a new disc will be getting bought as it was a problem even when installed properly.

Ah I see, sorry Eton that seemed like the most possible cause.

Well I hope it works OK when you re-install it anyway. :)
