Xbox One Playback Woes

Hello folks!

Trying to figure out if there's a problem with my TV, my cables or my Xbox One.

So here are my results so far with media playback on the One:

DVD (tested a variety of them)
- Dropped frames here and there - not chronic, but definitely noticeable, resulting in choppy looking playback.
- Some DVDs are actually out of synch (audio and video) - mostly TV SERIES based ones (Sopranos, Deadwood).

BLU-RAY
- Always in synch, but still dropping frames. Less often, but again, still perfectly noticeable.

HDMI THROUGH (tested Foxtel cable)
- Choppy again. Motion stutters occasionally.

So I guess my question is how many others out there are having similar issues? The XBOX 360 played DVDs absolutely perfectly - this is the part that really blows my mind, that decade-old technology is being played back so badly and out of synch like a cheap $40 DVD player.

Is this the sort of thing that a firmware update will fix? Do I have a bugged out Xbox One? (games install & play perfectly) Is this a known issue? What's going on here?

Best,
Rick

I've been searching for days for someone with the same issue as me!  I haven't noticed any DVD or TV/HDMI through issues, but when I watch Blu-Ray at 1080p, I get what appears to be a dropped frame or two often enough to be annoying.  If I switch to 720p it seems to clear it up.  I haven't had the time yet to examine TV settings (such as Trumotion, smoothing, etc).  Surely the DVD player and associated hardware can handle the bandwidth, but maybe there is some streamlining to be done with software?

I've fixed mine.

In the Disc and Blu-Ray settings, there is an option for 24Hz (24fps) to match the framerate of the actual footage.  I turned that on and it smoothed my playback out perfectly at 1080p, but it introduced a slight delay in lipsync.  I then turned off BD Live and that synced it back up.  Blu-Ray playback is now synced and playing smoothly!

Disclaimer: My TV also has a (24Hz) 24fps option for film playback, so maybe the mismatch between the two was causing the problem.  I wonder if it would also fix it by turning both off.

I'll try turning off BD Live when I get home. See if that helps my lip sync issues.

Turning off the BD live helps. However, you still need to rewind a moment and press play from the rewind so as to force the audio to sync.

It needs a patch ASAP.

Most of these "solutions" that people claim "fixed" the issues are simply workarounds.  The core issue is poor performance of the OS and it needs to be fixed by Microsoft.  Some apps are worse than other and even games are affected by frame drops.  I've personally noticed it gets worse with time if you don't do a full hard power cycle on the system every so often.

Setting something to 24Hz is not a full solution, lower the resolution is not a full solution, bypassing audio equipment is not a solution; the solution is an update from Microsoft that fixes these performance issues.

I have jitter issues with video playback on xbox one. Have the issue on netflix, hulu, amazon, and probably others. I'm going to crater a new thread in the support forum for this issue with a full bug report and link to a video demonstrating the issue when I get home.
