Xbox Music Playlist not syncing to Windows Phone 8

I have build playlist on the Xbox music app on Windows 8 and on http://music.xbox.com and playlist sync fine, but when I look on my Lumia 920 only 5 songs out of the 25 show up, not the first time this happens, its a little frutrating, have not found a reason for this.

The songs are all in the Cloud and my music subscription is up to date, does anyone know how to fix this or why this happpens?

Hi Grizzly,

Hmm that is odd.. A few clarifying questions for you:

  • When in Xbox Music, select the ellipses (...), and choose 'Settings'. Are all of options set to 'On'?
  • Have you power cycled your phone? (turn off, turn on)
  • Have you forced a sync? Navigate to 'Settings'>'Email + Accounts'>Tap and hold on your primary Microsoft Account, and select sync.

Let us know, and we can work from there. : )

I have done all of the above and it still does not work.

Here is an image of http://music.xbox.com this playlist shows up on my Windows 8 machine also, using the Music App, I can even make changes on the app and I will make the change on the web application.

And below is all that shows up on my phone

I'm on WiFi and still nothing, I made this playlist last week all should have been synced by now. Samething is happening to my wife's phone

Thanks

Cris

Hi GrizzlyStrong,

It looks that playlists on the phone will need to be edited on the phone. Here is how you go about doing that:

Go ahead and start the first song you want in your play list. Then start searching for other songs you want in the playlist and when you see the text for those songs in the search results, press and hold on them in order to add them to the Now Playing list. When you have your Now Playing list set the way that you want it, Go ahead and back out all the way to the initial launch screen for the Xbox Music app, from there tap on the little album artwork for the song playing. That should bring up a list of the songs you added to the Now Playing list with a save icon at the bottom of the screen. Click on that save icon, name your playlist and you should be good to go from there on. Hope this helps. Thanks!

Mister Rush I have done that before and for a long playlist that is vey time consuming, the Xbox app should make it easier to make a playlist not cumbersome.

So from the answering I'm getting this is just how it is and there is no fix for it. :( don't like it

The point of cloud is to have everything in sync among devices. Having to add every single song to my phone is so painful!

I know it's not a good fix,  but if you uninstall the WP8 Xbox Music app and reinstall it, it goes through and checks everything out again. My playlists, which did not appear on my phone but have appeared on my Windows 8.1 Xbox Music app and the Xbox Music website, finally became visible on my phone, filled with the songs I had placed there.

Hope they fix this soon, but in the mean time, you can always try this...

So true, this is why I'll be ditching Xbox Music among so many other headaches and glitches. Hopefully this and the constant forgetting I'm a subscriber on my phone and denying me access to music goes away and gets remedied. Oh Microsoft, why don't you want my money?
