Xbox Live disconnects when game starts; will not reconnect

So I've found that at the dashboard, Xbox works fine. But once I start up any disc game, it disconnects. Then, it won't reconnect unless I turn off the Xbox and leave it for several hours. So I'm not sure if deleting and redownloading my profile/ system updates will have any effect. The only reason I thought it may be the updates was that I accidentally cancelled halfway through the most recent update. If anyone has a suggestion as to how I can get my internet back without waiting until tomorrow or as to the definitive reason for my Live not working, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hello fellow gamer you could by clearing your cache which is where all updates are stored and re-booting your router may help.Also go to connection settings and re-test xbox live connection when connection is made any xbox live updates should start downloading hope this works for you.

Okay, I cleared my updates and everything, restarted my router. When I got connection and tried to update, it appears as if halfway through, the Xbox lost connection and wouldn't update, giving me the following status code:

3F45 - 0000 - 3080 - 0508 - 8007 - 274C

I tried searching the meaning of the code, but all the results came up as similar but not identical problems associated with connection. I feel as though it may be my Hardware that's breaking off, but I'm not sure.

Also, when I lose connection and do a connection test, the Xbox will not connect to my router. It essentially is losing my router every time I try to do something that uses the Internet.

Fluttershy,do me a favor,restore your router to it's default settings.....Then try connecting again,but if that doesn't work,you may need to do some port forwarding.....Report back and let us know how everything turns out.

It is at its default settings. it's never been modified, and that was one of the first things I did when I encountered the problem. The internet has worked on the Xbox since December of 2010, but it just now stopped.

The only thing I could think of at the moment,is contacting support@1800-4my-xbox.

every time i try to play gears of war 3 it says disconnected from xbox live. i go back to the dash board and I'm connected to xbox live again. i can play any other game online except gears. can someone give me suggestions.

If you're using wifi,try hard wiring your connection instead.

I was [MOD EDIT] myself earlier, i had just put in a 12 month code and my account was doing the exact same thing, it was signing in perfect on the dashboard, as soon as i load up a game... DISCONECTED, and wold not connect again, i tried clearing system cache, it said you have an update for this game, did the update and it disconected me AGAIN. i then tried recovering my profile and that is what eventually let me play online again
