Xbox Fitness crashes to home

I installed Fitness tonight, and it won't work for me. When I start it I see the splash screen for maybe 3 seconds and then it pops back to the home screen. I tried turning it off and on again with no difference. I then tried uninstalling Fitness, went and played some Zoo Tycoon, and then reinstalled Fitness. It is still exhibiting the same problem of silently crashing back to the home screen with no error message. This is the only app I'm having a problem with.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried uninstalling it once and rebooting the system, which worked yesterday. Today however, the issue is back.

I have the same issue as well. I've tried all the same troubleshooting steps as you as well with no luck.

Hey everyone!

Can you give this a try?

◦Try Deleting the game one more time.

◦Hold the power sensor on your console for 5 full seconds to shut down the console.

◦Let it turn off completely, and then restart it.

◦Now redownload the game completely and give it a go once it's installed.

Let us know if it works...

I had tried what amounts to the same thing by changing the Energy Saving mode so the console truly turns off, to make sure it wasn't a problem with another app running or an issue with suspend mode.

I just tried your method, and it still silently crashes back to Home. I'd be happy to offer up my console remotely to a MS engineer if it would help with debugging the issue.

I had this issue. I narrowed it down to having the Skylanders USB portal plugged in. If I unplugged it, then rebooted, XB fitness starts up ok. I tried plugged in a usb hard drive and XB fitness still started up ok. So it seems my issue was due to the skylanders portal. It doesn't matter which port it's plugged in to, side or back.

I contacted Microsoft and they have said contact the makers of Skylanders as it will be their game causing the problem. I contacted Activision and they said they don't test in line with XB fitness so contact Microsoft.

So although I can now run XB fitness I still have concerns over USB conflicts and I don't have a proper fix.

Does anyone else have the same issue without the use of skylanders or any usb devices being plugged in?

I do have Skyalnders Swap Force with the portal plugged in. I will try unplugging it when I get home. MS needs to make sure that these types of compatibility issues don't arise. I would say it is their job to ensure USB devices don't get in the way of games which aren't even accessing them, and to make sure that Fitness only cares if Kinect is plugged in.

I will report back my findings in  a bit.

I can confirm that after shutting down the console completely and removing the Skylanders portal from the USB port that Fitness does work properly.

Doubt it has anything to do with Skylanders. Never had Skylanders (or any other USB device) on my console but still had this problem. A forced reboot fixed the issue. Key is you MUST do the forced reboot. Turning your console off is NOT the same thing. When you turn your console off the OS continues to run in a dormant state (otherwise the "Xbox On" voice command wouldn't work!) A forced reboot completely reboots the OS.

Glad that sorted your problem. It didn't fix mine. I tried a hard reset several times. The issue I had was directly related to the skylanders portal.

The Skylander portal was definitely the problem for me. Unplugged it and now Xbox Fitness works great.
