Will downloaded games (from the marketplace) use my saved data?

The general issue and question:

I had a game disc and played through the entire game - storing the save data in my 320 gb hard drive. Now, I would like to buy that game, on the Xbox live marketplace,

so that I can play it anytime without the disc. If I download and play that game, will I be able to use my saved data for that game? Or will I have to start over?

The specific issue and question:

I had a Call of Duty 4 game disc and played through the entire campaign and made decent progress on the multiplayer - storing all of that saved data and progress in my 320 gb hard drive. Now, I would like to buy Call of Duty 4, on the Xbox live marketplace, so that I can play it anytime without the disc. If I download COD 4 and play it, will I be able to use my saved data for that game? Or will I have to start over?

Thanks for reading. I know it's a lot, but I just wanted to be clear about what I'm talking about.

As long as the save data is on your hard drive it will work with your downloaded game :)
