Why Do You Like GTA?

Please no assumptions and put-downs. But... of all the semi-adults I know in real life who have played the GTA games, out of the them who actually like the franchise I could count on my two hands, like it for dumb reasons. I say dumb reasons because the GTA franchise are video games.--And what makes games great is the heart and soul the team has put into its development. However it seems that almost every single one of these people I know all like GTA for its gang-related violence and idiocy.

Personally, I don't think GTA is great, but it is okay. I do recognize the depth of how "alive" Rockstar has made Liberty City though. And it is through good gameplay that I enjoyed the game, only recently having beat GTAIV for the first time. So I'm not putting down Rockstar (even though imo their sandbox games have all been carbon copies of each other) or the GTA franchise. But I do say that I find it hard to believe that everyone here likes and plays GTA for its good gameplay, ignoring the aesthetic appeal of the thug life.

I love it i remember playing GTA2 that overhead view was so epic i love free roam open world games and i loved story based games i can't wait for GTA 5.

[/quote]GTA2 was one of my favorites too. Everything you did effects how gangs show respect so you had to find that right balance to get hired on missions.

Previously known as Win7Xbox 360

the zombie voice of SR 3 sounds crazy.

GTA4 I found to be dull as a bag of spanners.

I play games to escape somewhat from the realities of life, so I don't understand why people want to make games more realistic.

Give me Saints Row 2 where I can be an obese oriental transsexual with a cockney accent, riding a quad-bike while on fire.

I liked it because of free roam and cop n crooks, Im guessing cops n crooks is dead now though.

From the first game to the latest all the GTA games had that fun sandbox feel. Once you got to GTA3 you had interesting story lines and colorful characters. While being an open world game the actual story was worth playing since you had a goal and things that never happened between them in the sandbox played out. The little details are what really make the games though. Just Cause 2 is probably the greatest sandbox game made, yet it didn't have any of that connection you get with a GTA title. Rockstar just knows how to make you feel like your character isn't some robot proxy and is someone who actually belongs in their worlds.

I'm a huge fan of open world games is why I like them so much, also free roam with friends is always a blast.

Free roam, plenty of cars to steal, guns, helicopters, etc. I like that I can *** around in it and do things I can't do in real life...

I like GTA because I go to the top of the empire state building, pointlessly jump off and seeing if I can do 10 press-ups before I die!

and of course complete it to 100%

Besides being a classic series, it's just fun.....
