Where is the Xbox 360 price cuts?

There has recently been some drastic price cuts to the PS3, especially in Australia where the 160GB model is now RRP $350. But it is actually available in quite a few stores for $299. We now have the crazy situation where the PS3 is not much more expensive than the basic 4gb Xbox 360 model and about $100 cheaper than the 250GB Xbox 360 model. Now we have the Xbox European boss ruling out price cuts in Europe for the Xbox 360. As our console price is linked to UK pricing, then this would seem to indicate there will be no price cut here either (in the short term). What the heck are they thinking?  Microsoft dominates with the Xbox 360 in the U.S. and the UK but pretty much everywhere else is dominated by the PS3.  Sales figures for the PS3 in the U.S. and other territories have reportedly rocketed since the PS3 price cut yet Microsoft is sitting on their hands. If Microsoft don't cut soon they will get smashed in the sales all through Xmas, Gears of War 3 etc won't save them as price is still a big issue for potential console purchaser. The Xbox 360 must be cheaper to make than the PS3, Microsoft could surely even make bigger cuts than Sony. Hope this is just bluff from the European head, big cuts to the price of the Xbox 360 (and Kinect bundles) in the next few weeks would give a lot of momentum for the big AAA game releases due in the next three months.

i have feeling that they will do it. When they bring out new moldal of XBOX 360.

I don't see there being a new 360 model. My guess is the 320gig HDD will replace the 250, and we may see a price cut when the new SKU arrives.

I am an old fool so might be completly wrong but I too can not see any new models coming out  for 360, I can see a new console being mentioned within the next 12-18 months though.

Also don't forget MS has had a fair few price cuts over the years on the 360 over various models whilst PS3 has had hardly any at all until recently.

I've heard there were not going to be any price cuts anytime soon. I read somewhere that MS commented on the PS3 price cut saying that the current price for the xbox 360 was where it needed to be.  But hey you take this as a grain of salt because I have no idea where I read this.

.

If I find it I will post it.

Which could be from 2-5 years from now.

Just because ps3 does it, doesn't make it right, so XBox should do it too.

I could care less.

Microsoft is going to replace their 250 GB sku (from glossy surface to matt surface found in 4GB) - So a few retailers might slash their prices.

If people keep buying, the prices are going to remain the same. Holiday time we may see some type of price drop or bundle, personally any type of price drop would not make a difference to me and my gaming purchases. I use xbox, and will not switch to ps3 based on saving a couple bucks...

Well considering the console prices are techincally cheaper no matter what I don't see it changing. The consoles base models xbox is cheaper. The next up model xbox is cheaper. All in all xbox is still cheaper now if they actually lowered the ps3 price to beat the xbox then that might of been a concern.
