Were Shotguns Nerfed?

I know there was a patch with Tuesday's content drop & I'm wondering if a shotgun nerf was part of it. The reason I ask is because I haven't used shotguns since the patch & shotguns that were OSKs up close 3 or 4 days ago are getting me 3 or 4 (yes THREE or FOUR) hitmarkers up close today.

And as far as I know the MW3 patch list hasn't been updated since 402 left.

The above is a list of all the updates that have been performed since the game's release & what the developers plan to do in the future. It's current up to 5/15/2012 as of this post. Also, I didn't see anything about shotguns being rebalanced...

they need to be..something happened with one of the eariler updates that caused the shotguns to be un-nerfed.  hopefully (and very quickly) a emergency update happens with a nerf for them

Why would you guys want to nerf them? If you ask me, they need to be made more reliable. As it stands now, 50% of the time I can shoot an enemy from 15 ft. away & kill them in 1 shot or shoot them at point-blank range & not kill them in 1 shot. The other 50% of the time, the shotguns work the way they're supposed to (1 shot kill at close range & multiple shots at long range). Overall, that's too inconsistent. They need to be made consistent ALL of the time. The only shotgun that I ever believed needed to be nerfed was the Stryker, & the developers have already nerfed that. The only thing that makes shotguns any good is the damage proficiency & you have to go through hell & back to earn that.

You don't need Damage to have a shotgun work well. Neither the SPAS nor the Model need Damage or Range, though I haven't really tried the others.

.

I thought the SPAS needed it, but after losing it and leveling it up again, it doesn't need either one.

If you don't use damage on the SPAS or Model, you get the exact same inconsistent results I've mentioned above...

I didn't have much luck with the naked Model but as long as you have the grip on the Spas it's fine, very usable. As for a nerf, no they haven't. Last night I was using the Spas, AA12, Striker and Model and they were all beasts.

With what proficiency/attachments might I ask?

It's been weeks since I played with the AA-12 I probably wouldn't know what shotgun been nerfed

@Geek Well the Model I always use damage, range just gives me too many hit markers.

The Spas for the most part I'll use damage and grip, however I will put range on it the odd time. On my other account I just use it with grip on it though.

The Striker is the same grip and damage, I find with it's low pellet count of 6 and needing to hit with 4 of them damage really helps with it's 40% increase in damage.

For the AA12 I go with damage and grip again which I switched up from range and ext. mags. This because I played with a guy also using the gold AA12 on Mission once, he was using damage and grip and I was using range and ext. mags. Pretty much every one on one engagement we had he won, and it wasn't down to him being more skilled because he didn't even finish positive and I did. Also I'd like to add that specialist is by far the best choice for the AA12, I did use Scavenger as my first perk but the slow reload and especially the slower weapon switch time really hinders you. So I use SoH, Assassin and Steady Aim, then for specialist I'll go Scavenger, Extreme Conditioning and Blast Shield. Since switching to this setup I've had loads more high scoring games, the other night I got a 50/15 on Mission with the killcam too and it's always nice to get one with the AA12. :)
