weird controller

Can someone please if possible help me with a problem that is driving me mad, when i am playing Black Ops 2 and i press the fire button on my controller it switches itself off and tells me to reconnect the controller. The controller has a full charge and i have chenged it for a different controller and it sometimes happens with that, i am using it wirelessly at the moment but it still sometimes happens when it is cabled directly to the router. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening and i have already taken it out on 1 controller and don't really want to break another 1. HELP

Hey Munchy! Have you made sure there is no interference nearby, such head wireless headsets?

Could this be an issue with the battery pack becoming loose when the rumble feature is on? are the battery packs microsoft branded? or are they maybe a third party brand? I know some of the ones I have tried just dont fit properly so i gave up on them and went back to microsoft. You could also try taping the batterypack firmly in place this can sometimes help.

If it is because of a lose battery and it turns off every time it vibrates you should turn vibration off in your settings.

It could always be something jamming the wireless signals such as Magnets, Phones , and so forth try moving them away and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the response guys but like i say it is a bit weird as it only happens when i am playing black ops, i played FORSA last night and it was fine but as soon as i started playing black ops it just kept switching itself off as soon as i pressed the fire button. I am going to get a new controller and see if that helps

Check and make sure there are no electronic devices around around that use a wireless signal that can turn your controller off and what not.

Hey MUNCHY0506! That does sound frustrating, glad you posted here so we can help get to the bottom of this! Trying another controller is definitely a good course of action. In addition, can you make sure that you only have one controller synced with the console when you're trying? And have all other external devices unplugged (like USB or headsets)!

It sounds a bit wonky that you only experience this in B-OPS, to be sure, do you think you could take a bit of time to try a few other games? To see if you encounter it!

I have tried a few demo games and it is happening in them also, in the wolfenstein demo it happens as soon as i press the fire button but when i play Forsa it has started happening when i hit something and that is really weird.

Then this is definitely happening when your controller rumbles, try giving the method of turning your rumble feature off suggested above by ekim95.

You can do this by,

1. Press the xbox guide button. "the big X Button in the middle of the controller"

2. scroll all the way to the right to settings by pressing the right bumber or left on the d-pad.

3. Choose Preferences

4. Choose Vibration

5. Uncheck box to disable vibration function

6. press B to go back then press xbox guide button again to return to your dashboard or ingame screen.

Also check to make sure the connection port for the battery pack is not dirty smudged or damaged. If it is clean or replace then try again.

Goodluck and once given this a try get back at us and let us know how it goes.
