Using a USB instead if expensive hard drive?

Can I use a USB instead of a hard drive to play my original xbox games? I configured the USB with the xbox and it shows as more storage but the game still says I need a hard drive. Do I need a crazy amount of memory to play the original x box game? I checked the list as we'll and the game is on the list so it's supposed to be compatable. I don't play the thing all that much but I really like the game because I don't like the 360 version of it at all.

PrepCircle,

Even if you format a USB to work with the Xbox, it cannot be used to play Original Xbox games as the official MS hard drives have a special partition that has the emulator software necessary to play the Original Xbox games.

That's ultimately your call but having an original Xbox wouldn't impose the limitations of only a select list of compatible games. I've still got my original Xbox, Xbox 360, and One. It just depends on what you are looking for and if a hard drive would be beneficial to your Xbox 360 experience.

Actually I do have one more question about the hard drive and how do I know what size I would need?

well every OFFICIAL MS hard drive has the emulator partition on it, so depending on which 360 you have if you have the older fat its 20, 60, 120, and 250.  On the Slim and later E model its 250 or 320, good luck.
