Updating CoD 4

I recently had problems downloading the newest system update. I got the error code 397F-0000-0080-0300-8007-045D. I did as the Support page told me, I took out the hard drive and then put it back in. It still didn't work. I was finally able to to update the system by using a USB-stick. The problem is that when I now try to play CoD 4 I get logged out of Xbox live, seconds after I get asked to update the game. The update was on 2 Mb so memory wasn't the case (I have about 235GB), I get almost the same code as before and nothing else helps. Can you please help. I really wan't to play CoD 4 Multiplayer.

As The Little Moa said "Try clearing your Xbox 360's cache" You can also try to test your Xbox Live connection and see if if that works.

ok you need to try this

A storage device (such as a memory unit or hard drive) was not found during the software update. Follow these steps:

Turn off your console.

Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives, or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 S console. Learn how to remove the hard drive.

Add your primary storage device, for example, the hard drive.

Turn on the console

Try updating the console again.

I have tried everything you have said here, but nothing seems to work. My connection to Xbox live is fine too, the update just stops and gives me the same error code.

Hey there XD Zaibot.

After having followed all the above advice that has been given, and you are still facing these problems.

I suggest trying to install your game to your Hard Drive, simply follow these instructions to do so:

1. Press the guide button on your controller (middle, circular button)

2  Scroll left, twice. And you will see 4 options, choose the 3rd option (Game Marketplace)

3. Now, you will be on the 'spotlight' page. If you press the 'RB' button, to take you to downloadable games.

4. You will see some columns. The first column, has 'New Games' and 'Games A-Z'. Choose 'Games A-Z'

5. Now, choose the letter, of which is first on the title of your game.

6. You should now be on the 'overview' of the game. You should have 3 green boxes, in columns. Select 'Install'

It is sort of a long shot, but worth a try. I shall look into this, and try to give you more advice later.

Hope this helped.

Kind Regards,

Ryan M (DarkLink 900)

Is it downloaded from the marketplace? If so, try deleting the game and re-downloading it. Here are some guides on how to do so:

1. Press your guide button on your controller (middle circular button)

2. Scroll right twice (using the RB button, or the LS) and choose 'System Settings' (4th option down)

3. Now you will have a list of options. Choose the 3rd one down, 'Storage'.

4. You will now be given a choice, between 'All Devices', 'Hard Drive' and 'Cloud Saved Games' (If you have Cloud)

Choose 'All Devices'.

5. Now, choose 'Games and Apps' (1st option)

6. Go down to the game you wish to delete.

7. Now, before you proceed, if you have any saved data/games it will be deleted by doing this. Select all the options, individually, and choose 'delete'

Now to re download it follow these next few steps:

Hope this helps.

Okay, Thanks for the help but the problem is still there. Today when I was gonna play Homefront, I got the update popup, and again it failed. It seems that it is the Xbox that can't download updates anymore. I have no idea why. The error has nothing to do with the game, but with the Xbox apparantly. The only way I did it with the Xbox Live update was by a USB stick, an option that is not available now...

I'm not sure if I can be much help but I was having the exact same problem with COD4, MW2 and Dead Space. I eventually formatted my Hard Disc and it works fine now. You might want to try this in case nothing else works. Good Luck !

Greetings, Zaibot! When you say you get "almost the same code as before" what does that mean exactly? Can you post the code that you receive after using the USB drive? Thanks!
