Unrecognized Disc

I recently bought a new XBOX 360 Slim and a copy of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The game seems to be in perfect condition with a few scratches here and there, but whenever I try to play the game it says Unrecognized Disc or Play DVD. Could you please help?

I also get that sometimes with my disks. Try opening and closing your disk tray to see if that helps.

Hey HatchedFox9357, there could be many reasons why your game may not work. It could be the scratches, or maybe your disc reader in the console is damaged. I know you bought it new, but you never know. My advice would be to first test whether or not other games work on your console. If other games work its a good chance that the disc may be unreadable due to scratches. You can also try cleaning the disc with a cloth or rag as dust may hinder a games performance to. I would bring back your game disc and ask for a new copy if your Xbox console can not read it, or swap it for another copy. Hope this helps.

If by some chance that it is a used game see if you cant take it back to the store you got it from in exchange for a better copy of the game.  If they wont take it back try to find a CD resurface place and see if that clears up any of the problems.

I usually fix this by wiping the DVD with a soft cloth. Sometime even new games have a small amount of production dust on it.

I have had this problem recently. Please try to look at your storage clicked The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and check for any corrupt files. I hope this helps!

This is usually caused by your drive not reading it, simple soulutions would to put he disk in, turn the console off, then turn console on by pressing the eject button, then close it, turn it off, then turn it on with the powe button.

Hope I've helped, Outspin.

Clean your disk with a clean cloth then restart your Xbox and put the disk inside the tray and if if doesn't work then that means your disk is broken. (Your disk might have too many scratches)
