Unlock full game

I purchased the first Sonic game off the marketplace almost 2yrs ago when I got XBL. Now when I got to play I can only play the first level and it tells me to 'unlock full game' Ive tried everything I can think of. Clear cache, deleting the game and re-downloading and recovering my profile nothing has helped. Any suggestions? Next step I guess is to contact support and moan and fuss till I get free MS points

I have exactly the same problem. I bought a new xbox and re-downloaded all the 20+ xbox live arcade games I already have purchased. Sonic 1 is the only one with this problem. It appears in my "my games" menu as a full game, with achievements, but inside the game, there is the "unlock full game" message. I did it all and it doesn't work!!!!

Thanks Mister for your help. Although after I did the transfer it wanted to transfer all my downloaded games.

This is a known issue with older Sega titles, including Sonic and Golden Axe.

Until/unless you can do a license transfer, you need to "Unlock full game" from INSIDE the game's menu. This will bring up a marketplace box that says "you already paid for this, download again?" Just say "yes" - but DO NOT exit the game! It's going to get a new key for you, which should take about 3 seconds. Once it's done, exit the marketplace box, but again, DO NOT exit the game.

You should be able to play now. Keep in mind, you must do this trick every time, until the license has been transferred.

This suggestion did not work for me, as I did this exact thing probably 35 times before I posted here. Also it doesnt explain why Sonic 2 worked just fine. I appreciate your help though

I have the same issue. I had done the license transfer and still all my newly downloaded games (which I have owned previously and played the full versions) are only trial versions.

I have gotten a new S console since I purchased the game. But all my other arcade downloads work fine like Sonic 2, Uno, and Bankshot Billards, which were all purchased before I got a new console. Even Fallout 3 which is a GOD title I purchased works fine. Its just the first Sonic

Have you, since purchasing the game, gotten a new console or had your console repaired? Have you done a license transfer since then?
