Unauthorized Purchases

Sorry I didn't know where to put this while looking through the Topics. This is a first complaint I'm making ever to you guys. I got a whole bunch of emails earlier today Stating that Purchases were made on my account somehow using my Credit Card information. I got 4 Emails and I'm out of 400 Microsoft Points that Were transferred to someone and I'm out $156.63 plus Taxes on a Bundle of 6,000 Microsoft Points I haven't bought from you guys, Plus the guy or woman that Transferred over 400 points there account is name [GT Removed]  And I do see that Family Account was bought too. I don't Share My Xbox with no one. I don't let anyone else touch my xbox with out my permission and yes I do have to be watching them. I want This money and points back and i want these people Sue or something Worse to them. I'm very Displeased you guys would let this happen to me. I wouldn't complain to you guys. This is a first every my account and my money was stolen from me and I want it every dime penny back and these people Banned IP and all Charges to brought to them all. I'm sick of this. I don't need another Hole in my head and at the same time I'm trying to act calm as possible.  Thank You and Please Fix this Issue ASAP.

Before you know for sure how someone got a hold of your account/credit card information you should hold off on placing blame on anyone. If your XBL account has been compromised then you need to call support and have them start an Unauthorized Access Investigation.

 

There are a limited number of ways anyone can gain access to your account:

-you give out your personal information including e-mail and password (this is most commonly associated with people trying to obtain an illigitimate rank in a game without actually earning it)

-you are phished (this is common amongst the free ms points/generators that you see offered around the internet)

-you are socially engineered (this happens when a player engages another in seemingly senseless chit chat about their lives, but turns out to be a 20 question
session trying to gain your personal information so they can steal your account)

-you use an unsecure PC (typically you will want to have your encryption turned on if using wireless and be running a good anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-
malware program as well)

-you use the same e-mail address and password for your XBL account that you use for other websites/services (for maximum security you should be using an
e-mail address and password just for XBL that you do not use anywhere else)

-you thought it would be a good idea if your friends/family knew your log in information (you know, in case they want to play)

 

If you shop online you could have been compromised on any number of websites. If you do not shred your credit card statements before you bin them you could have been compromised that way. Etc., etc., etc.

 

How do you know the points were purchased by that GT? Also you should know that naming and shaming players within these forums is not allowed, regardless of what they have allegedly done.

Sorry to hear it.  For future reference it would be better for you to create a new thread instead of bumping older ones.  In the meantime there are two ways to request a refund on the purchases.


1.  log in to https://account.microsoft.com and process the refund there 

2.  Call phone support to request a refund.  You can get the number for your region via this link http://support.xbox.com/contact-us?isChatCallAvailable=false
