Trying to copy game to new HD.

I have a game installed on one of my two 360s...I have the disc but it's too scratched to play, but works fine on the 360 that it's installed on as long as I have the disc in to start the game.

How would I go about copying the game off of that hard drive onto my other 360s hard drive so I can play it on either ( with the disc in of course ).

I think I know what you are asking.  Here is the info you asked for

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/accessories/set-up-transfer-cable

I linked this becasue it says Oct 2011 you can transfer from all 360's new and old ( any HD to any HD).

I used this cable when I got my new 360 but have not used the new one ( Oct 2011).

Hope this answers your question.

I did everything it said for the flash drive....it set up fine, but when I go to copy the install I get "This item cannot be transferred between storage devices", is there anyway around that?

Hi SellerzJ!

Installed games can't actually be copied or moved.  I know you said that your disc was scratched - have you tried to see if it will let you install it to the other hard drive?  Also - are both consoles the same... as in both Original 360s or both 360 Slims? If they're the same, you can try just swapping the hard drive from one console to the other when you want to play.

Good luck!  :)

It won't work.  When you install a game to the hard drive, the install is linked to the console it was installed on.  If you move the hard drive and attach it to another console, the game will only run from disc.

Your best bet here is to either borrow a working disc from a friend or use a rental copy.  Install this disc to your other console and then you can use your scratched disc to run it.  As above, you can't copy game installs and transfer kits wipe the source drive.  You will need a physical working game disc to install it to your other machine, if your current disc won't install.

I hope that made sense.

Yeah, I tried installing it on my other hard drive from the disc but it wont do anything unfortunately. I guess I'll just borrow the disc to install. Thanks for the help.
