The Hard Drive or The Console?

A few weeks ago-ish, just after I updated "Minecraft: 360 Edition" to the latest version, it refused to load - "Minecraft: 360 Edition has failed to load, and cannot continue".

I spoke to many different and lovely people on support over the next few days. So we covered the whole delete and download again, clear your cache, test your connection, reset your power, redownload your profile, try an external memory etc... thing.

I was contacted by an "escalated" advisor who basically gave me the same steps then said that the problem might be the hard drive and i should contact the hardware dept. to see about getting a new one. However, today i took my hard drive down to a friends to try it and see. Surprise surprise when i connected the hard drive to his console and loaded the game, it started perfectly, even with the update appied.

Now I'm not the brightest but surely this points to a problem with my console rather than the hard drive. It sounds like something is corrupt but why would it then work on a different console?

I'm lost, confused and tired. This problem simply won't go away.

So my question is this: should i see about a replacement hard drive or console?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys, take care!

Michael

Okay so other all other games on my hard drive work. It makes it sound like theres an error with the game, but surely i wouldn't be the only one with the problem if that was the case. Also, if something were corrupt it surely would have been fixed with the millions of troubleshooting steps I tried. This problem is driving me crazy.

That is a very weird situation... since you said your HDD and game works on your friends Xbox... it does make it sound like a weird issue with your OWN Xbox, yet everything else works fine. Have you tried to completely reset your Xbox aka setting the initial setup option? Also, can another profile open up Minecraft on your Xbox? That can also be a troubleshooting possibility.

Let me know!

I just can't get my head around it, it does just seem that my xbox has an issue with Minecraft and nothing else. Only the latest version of Minecraft at that! Sadly no luck with running the initial setup or using another profile, just keep getting the same error. I fear I am rapidly running out of options. What am I to do without Minecraft?! Go outside? Oh don't be silly.

Hmm... Okay so have you tried to run MineCraft without your HDD and just run it on your xbox alone?

I've tried running it frrom an external memory source without my HDD attached. I didn't know you could install games to the internal memory? Can you do that? I'll go give it a try!

Okay so either I'm an idiot or you can't do that on the old 360. This isn't going well.

I never experienced such an issue, Lol. It's really hard but we just have to keep troubleshooting unless you just want to buy a new xbox. If your friend is willing, perhaps you can switch HDD's and use his HDD with your xbox and act as if it's your own (login to your progile, download minecraft, etc.) amd the same for him and if everything seems to work then switch hard drives? This will only work if he's a close friend after all, Lol. Just shooting in the dark here :)
