Hello ColJackOneil. If you are able to discover your console from the app that means you are running the Xbox One SmartGlass app (verses the 360 app) - which is good. Not being able to connect...is of course bad. I hate to fall back to this old debugging
step...but if you hard reboot the console (un-plug the console and then plug back in), is it able to connect?
