Skyrim won't launch it just says unrecognized disc it worked yesterday just fine

Skyrim wont launch Ive had it for 2 months and it just slowly got worse the unrecognized disc kept poping up more frequently until now it does not work at all I've tried deleting the skyrim game data tried switching profiles tried borrow someone else's skyrim game tried cleaning the disc with a 50$ disc cleaner my xbox is one year old and i need help I do not have xbox live or wifi so I cant try to buy it and download it

  1. What is the exact error message you're seeing?
  2. Is it the same error message every time? Or does it change at all?
  3. When you borrowed someone else's copy of Skyrim, did you receive any errors?
  4. Do other disc games play/read from your console without issue?

The exact message it says is unrecognized disc it is the same message every time I insert the disc  when I borrowed someone else's skyrim the message was the same the message is the same with a new grand theft auto 5 game I bought it worked for 2 days then on the third day it would not work it says unrecognized disc even though there is no scratches on the disc besides that all my other games work just fine

Hey again Young! Thanks for that info! It definitely helps paint a clearer picture of your situation.

From what your describing, and since you're having the same issue on multiple games and multiple discs, it sounds like the disc reader on your console needs to be repaired.

If you can, try the same discs that aren't reading properly on your console on a friend or family member's console. If they read properly there, then I suggest sending your console in for a repair.

To do that, you can either head over to our Online Service Center and set up the repair yourself. Or you can use the Contact Us page to set up a support call with a repair specialist. They can walk through setting up the repair with you.
