samsung TV switching on

Hi all,

Ok so far not having some of the issues people are reporting using the pass thru and live TV, my issue is that xbox on and off works fine but when we are starting from scratch, so TV off and xbox off, when I say "Xbox On" it swiyches TV on but does not actually turn the TV on, Im hoping at some point that it can send more than the on signal so the Tv sitches on completley.

Any one else having this problem or is there a way on the samsung TV that I can get it to switch on from on.

john

did you set it up through the TV setup section? The part where it says it'll send a signal to your tv to mute it, after that it'll work.

sorry its my explination, it turns my tv on and off, volume works up and down once the Tv remote has been pressed to switch the TV from standby to On its just not enough to get it to switch on to picture oyt of standby. So when i say xbox on it goes to standby not actually on.

I have a Samsung as well.  During the two times I have gone through the setup the signal has gone out just fine, muting the TV, however when my TV is all the way off and I say the command "Xbox on" everything turns on except for the TV.  I remember seeing other forum posts about problems with Samsung TV's so it may just be the brand for now.

schtizzle, thanks for that, hopefully it will get fixed, just seems strange to say xbox on and then have to reach for the remote to actually get the tv picture on.

Having just spent alot of time researching this issue, Ive now got it to work. You have to manually enter your model number, so when it asks do you want the box to automatically get the details say no, in my case when you looked at the device it said T1234 or something similar, I manually entered the model number and now when I say xbox on I get both come on to picture.

Thats one less issue to worry about, only child account and tv picture quality to worry about now

I have a Samsung TV too and it connects to the XO via HDMI, I have a freeview box too, which at the moment was configured when connected to the tv. Now I have connect it to the XO. Is that the right way to connect it up.

What settings do I need to configure, the TV or XO?

Well I reset the Tv setting to automatic and as before it did not work, then i followed my suggestion above and manually entered the model number and it works again, so it looks like when the xbox is off say overnight it is loosing something to send the on code to the Tv rather than just the standby code. Not sure if this is a software problem or something else.

still frustrating when it does not work and you still need the tv remote.

ok just been onto support chat, finally think we have a solution, the above manual procedure works but you must change the power off setting to not switch off automatically. I will be checking overnight to see if this has worked, fingers crossed again.Ill post again tommorow
