Same problem: "Disk cannot be read" for a game I bought in the Live store

This is getting a little tiring. I'm really considering just buying the disk, although that's more money lost.

I bought Fable III. Worked fine until I got a certain point, then an error popped up saying that the "Disk cannot be read". I posted a forum earlier, and was suggested to uninstall re-install and/or clear my cache. I did both, and it worked. Played for an hour or two, and it happened, again. "Disk cannot be read".

So now I'm re-installing it. The problem is, is that I don't want to have to uninstall re-install if this is going to keep happening. I just want to play my game uninterrupted. Please help, has this happened before? Could this be a problem with the game itself or my system?

Maybe you should just buy a used copy of fable 3. You could try redownloading your profile to your xbox 360.

Thanks for the suggestion, but what would redownloading my profile do exactly?

Hi Cloora!  This is a kind of rare issue with a pretty simple fix:

First off, delete the game (but not the save files) off your system.  Then perform a cache clear and restart the console.

Next, you need to find a game demo of about the same size as the game you are having issues with and download that one.  Once you have done that, you can download the game that isn't working.

It should behave itself!

I feel it could be a problem wit the disk. If there's a laser burn anywhere on the disk the game will only work till where the laser burn is. U can tell its a laser burn if it goes all the way around the disk n looks like multiple scratches.
