Region Error fix?

Im stationed in Japan with the US military.  It appears that XBOX didnt take in to account the people who serve in our military generally change duty stations on a rotational basis and are never in the same place permanently.  Thank you for that consideration.  Anywho, can I have my brother back in the states Recover my Gamer tag on his box, download the new COD Map Packs, and then me just recover the gamer tag back to my xbox?  Would that work?  Thanks

if you do that you may have UPDATIng issues

 

you aren't understanding

the GAME is region locked for a reason

unlike other content which is not region locked

blackops mappacks is REGION LOCKED this includes its updates

Thats the thing, i can get updates all long, but cant download map packs because of region locks.

No, when i first came over i have downloaded tons of extra content prior to coming to Japan, and Im still able to recieve updates

updating other content doesn't affect region locked content as other content is NOT nessarily region locked

just because you purchased lets say left 4 dead 2  and it is not region locked

that means you can get updates

Geofencing plays a big role with a lot of DLC on the xbox LIVE marketplace and because of this content from other regions is restricted, or, unavailable in others. Yes, your account may be set to the US and the content in which you're trying to download may be available to those in the US, however not being in that country and trying to bypass this to make the content available to you is a violation of the Terms of Use for xbox LIVE.

I emailed XBox the same problem with my region being in Japan as I'm stationed here.  They sent me the new map packs free automatically to my XBox so when I woke up the XBox had already downloaded them.  I'm not saying this will work for you, but you can try it!
