Red Faction Armageddon

Watched the Dev Interview yesterday from the dashboard as this was a title I was anticipating since Guerilla. Then they got to the bit where it was said about 20% of the game was on the surface and the rest was in underground caves etc. If that is the case, then I doubt I'll be picking this copy up - perhaps a rental if at all. I don't mind claustrophobic games in parts, but for 80% of a game to be like this puts me right off. That along with the fact it was confirmed the game plot was going to be linear whereas Guerilla was free roam.

I just don't think I could enjoy a game like this. What do you guys think?

Demo was fun, I may pick it up. I like more linear games anyway. Most of the time free roam games are just filled with pointless junk anyway.

I don't think I'll be getting it. Not for the same reason as you, but for the fact that it's not going to have player vs player multiplayer. Only two different co-op modes.

I didn't know that. Good grief, on paper, surely to the Devs this looks like a big step backwards? Either very brave or very stupid.

I don't mind linear games to a certain extent - it's annoying on big free roam games not knowing what to do or where to go at times. However, even being too linear can be bad imo. My main concern is being in caves, caverns etc. for the majority of the game. Even in games, I like to come out for air quite regularly!
