Questions for a 2nd Playthrough

So I finished my first playthrough and I am about to start my second.  In my first playthrough I was an adept and got all of the squads loyalty.

1)  So I am wondering for my next playthrough which of the other classes are fun?  Also which of the bonus powers are good to use?  If I do a soldier this time, what bonus power should I take?

2)  My entire team did not survive the suicide mission.  I am not sure why, but I would like to get the achievement this time.  What do you need to do to have them all survive?

1.  I just started yet another playthrough, and this time I'm using an Engineer.  I'm actually enjoying this playthrough, especially when using the drone as a distraction, you can walk right up to someone (if your fast enough) and shoot 'em in the back.

2.  You've got to do all their loyalty missions and secure every team members loyalty.  Not required, but it makes ensuring their survival easier.  When you assign tasks during the last mission on the collector base, have Tali or Legion go through the heat vents, and select either Garrus, Miranda, or Jacob to lead the second fire team.  When you have to chose a biotic escort for your team, choose either Samara/Morinth or Jack.  Garrus, Miranda, or Jacob should once again lead the second team.  Send Mordin or Tali back with the Normandy crew, if there are survivors.  For the final stand, I tend to take a combination of squadmates depending on mood; however, I never take Grunt, Jacob, Garrus, Zaeed or Legion because of the defense and health bonuses they have.  Good luck.

To answer your first question (Bedlam answered your second one) every class in the game has it's benefits, it's really all about personal preference. If you're playing a Soldier, there are a couple of bonus powers you might like. My favorite for Soldier is Reave, I like having a biotic attack I can rip off, and that one is just fantastic. Another good one is Barrier or Geth Shield Boost if you want to add a little more tanking ability, but I found I hardly used those abilities since the Soldier is so tough anyway. If you're playing on a higher difficulty, they can be beneficial though.

My favorite class is the Sentinel, but again it's all personal preference. I like the Sentinel with Reave or Warp Ammo as the bonus power, and I take Sniper Rifle as the bonus weapon. They have both Overload and Warp making them good against any protection type, plus they have Tech Armor that gives them the ability to take a ton of damage. I found them to be the most versatile class in the game, I love the Sentinel.

I recommend Vanguard or Sentinel. And I won't spoil the ending, you should figure out who is best suited for what role.

If you truly want to experience Mass Effect's depth of amazingness use every class type in your future playthroughs, even if they aren't your play style it will give you a feel for everything available and the sheer size of work put into it by Bioware.
