Question about Japanese games

Why are the male characters usually more feminine than the female characters?

We need a post-FFVIII fan to explain this one..

The ***?

This is a serious question I am hoping a fan of Japanese games can answer.

I don't know.  A lot of western games have the same type of gruff wise-cracking wooden-haired generic character/protagonist as well.

Because in Japan, the ripped manly [Mod Removed] which we westerners idolize, is considered unattractive. A more effeminate man is considered to be beautiful.

So deep down the men really want to be women?

The same reason most western games have super manly bald manly muscular man who are from space or America or the silent, burly dragon slaying knight.

Not all Japanese games have effeminate men and the same can be said about western games and their stereotypes.

Anything is better then playing as some pansy with a $500.00 haircut and a manicure.

I'd rather play as a believable pansy than Brodude McHugeMeat

[/quote]I get that you're trolling, but that's retarded. It's just a look.
