Purchased Xbox Live doesnt work

I have just recently purchased 1 month of Xbox Live on xbox.com on this website it says i am a gold member but whenever i go onto my account on xbox live it still says i've got a silver account and i cant access gold member stuff. How long do i have to wait till it confirms? or is there something wrong with my purchase
