It could be that the game is corrupt and it's an easy fix.

First you need to delete the game.

    1. Go to Settings, and then select System.
    2. Select Storage, and then select Hard Drive.
    3. Select Games and Apps.
    1. Find and select Minecraft.
    2. Select Delete.

Then you will need to Clear Cache

Finally you will need to re-download Minecraft.

Hello Cabb. I am very sorry to hear about your issue with the download.

It sounds like something went wrong with the download while it was downloading. As you have cleared out your system cache, I would suggest deleting Minecraft and then redownloading it.  This should clear out any problem that may have occurred during the download.  Let us know how this solution works out. If it works, then have a great time gaming. If not, return here and we will continue to work on the problem with you.

Hey there Cabbsmith!  OK, do you have a USB drive handy?  What I want you to try is removing the Hard drive from your system, and installing the game to USB to see if it'll play there.  If that doesn't work, please make a fresh thread and we'll figure this out!

I get that problem now and again. For me, if I click ok on the screen that says couldn't start game, then click minecraft again, everything works fine.
