Problem with Xbox Live Gold Membership Renewal

I've tried it online, and through my xbox and even had the guy from customer support enter in my billing information to purchase from his end and nothing worked. I called up support and was on the phone for over an hour trying to figure out why the transaction wasn't going through... and no conclusion was reached... I was told to try and purchase it again in 24 hours. The error I get when I try to purchase it online is

I never received a definite solution or a straight answer as to why this is happening... He said that it might have something to do with the Xbox Live Marketplace which seems to be having issues. This is not likely because I looked up what was wrong with the Xbox live market place... and it has nothing to do with this situation...

I am having the same issue whenever I attempt to manage my payment methods, says there is a "glitch in the system." Very frustrating.

I am having the same issue!  The suggestion they gave me on first line support was to go buy a prepaid card at Best Buy or Amazon...what a dumb solution!
