Problem with the Initial Launch of Xbox Music & Video

As of recently, when I launch either apps for the first time after starting my Xbox. I'm taken to my collection instead of the apps Home screens.

It's almost as if I'm launching the app without being signed into Xbox Live. If I try to launch any of my movies, my Xbox crashes.

If I look at my TV shows, they all show up as black boxes. If I try to launch these also my Xbox crashes.

I have to exit the apps and reopen them in order for them to load correctly. Same issue with the music app.

Also every time after I launch the app for a second time & proceed to start playing a video I'm told every time  that the video I'm viewing will be visible on my Gamer Tag.

I understand this, so it's not necessary to tell me every time I start a video.

Hello CIDkidzPILLZ,

OK, we've got a few things for you to try, that may remedy your issue.

First, clear your console's cache

Then do a restart of network hardware and console.

Re-download your Xbox LIVE profile to your Xbox 360

Go into Xbox Video>My Videos>Account Management.  Press 'X' to Refresh Purchase History

Let us know what you are seeing after you try those steps.  Thanks!

It seems to be loading correctly again ATM...

I just wanted to say that this was happening prior to the recent occurrences when Xbox Video & Music were released in the Dashboard beta.

I had reported on this issue a little bit in the private forums.

The way I got the problem to stop before was by removing the old saved Zune files from when Zune was the Video source.

After I deleted those files while in the beta I didn't have the problem again up until the recent happening.

Just letting you know. I think maybe that could help out a bit on the information end of the cause of the problem.

I don't know for sure but this bug may have some relevance to the Signing into Xbox Live Dashboard bug I've been experiencing. forums.xbox.com/.../386311.aspx

I was having the same issue. I was in the Dashboard Beta and it started then and never really stopped. After a bunch of back-and-forth with the Xbox Support twitter, they told me to try Step 1 of this:

support.microsoft.com/.../971875

Solution 1: Clear and download the console update again

There might be a problem with the console software update. To solve this problem, try clearing a portion of the update, and then download the update again. Here’s how:

On your console, go to Settings hub, and then select System.

Select Storage.

On your controller, press the following button sequence:

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

When prompted, select Yes.

After the console restarts, sign in using an Xbox LIVE gamertag, and download the update again.

Basically you are re-downloading the Dash update.

Hopefully this works, because this is a frustrating problem to solve, and even searching the web for answers is difficult!

This issue has popped up again.

I haven't seen it yet on Xbox Music, but on Xbox Video the issues happened a few times just recently.

I'll just go threw the steps again.

-

I also wanted to mention a problem I've been having with some videos I've purchased.

It's actually two separate problems relating to Xbox Video. one the Xbox 360 & the other on Windows 8.

The Xbox 360 issue is that all videos I've purchased I've purchased in HD.

However "Dark Shadows (plus bonus features)" Shows I only have it in SD.

The same problem was happening "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, part 1", "Redline" & "Prometheus".

The last three seem to have corrected themselves however.

-

On the issue with Windows 8's Xbox Videos.

I'm unable to download a few of the videos I've purchased.

They don't show up in "My Videos".

When I go to find them in the Movies store. I'm shown that I have to buy them.

However when I go to buy them they say I've already purchased them and they're available in "My Videos"

The three videos this is happening with are as follows. "30 Days of Night", "Silent Hill" & "Prometheus".

I would very much like to download the videos to my PC for backup.

Just if I'm ever signed offline & I wish to watch them.

I've filled out feedback about this problem threw the App on Windows 8 but the problem still remains.

All of those three purchases were made right around the time of the official launch of Windows 8.

"Silent Hill" & "30 Days of Night" were both on sale for 800MSP at the time of purchase.

-

Wondering if you have any thoughts on those two issues I'm facing at this time.
