I recently got married in April and decided that rather than paying for multiple xbox live accounts I would just jump on the family membership bandwagon. My wife already had the family membership for her and the kids, so I just added my account to hers, no problem right? Well now whenever I try to purchase any type of DLC, even the free stuff, I get an error saying there's a problem with Xbox service and gives me a status code 80181102 for the free stuff and a different code for the stuff that costs money, but neither code is found when trying to do an error search on the website. I chatted with a service rep the other day about it and he said he was going to forward the info to a specialist for handling and they would get back in touch with me either by phone or email within the next 3 days, but I never heard back from anyone. I have $7 on my account from points that I had when they did the currency conversion, the DLC I'm trying to buy is $4.99.
I've read on the forums that updating your billing options by adding an option and then trying to buy again can fix the problem, but when I try to add another payment option I get a prompt that only the Primary member can update these options. So I added my paypal account info onto her account, thinking I could just access it from mine once it was a payment option, but I still can't do anything on my own account. Am I not allowed to purchase anything on my own account anymore? If I can only purchase on the primary account what happens to the credit stored on my personal account?
Xbox seems to have the worst customer support ever, based on my dealings with this problem and past dealings. All I ever get are templeted responses, or people that tell me they don't know what the problem in and that a specialist will look at it, but they never follow back up, so I'm hoping maybe the forum can help me a little better.
