Next Mass Effect gets a rough launch window of 2014 - 2015

Found this on another forum and thought I'd share:

.
The next Mass Effect game, in development at BioWare Montreal, has a tentative launch window of late 2014 to mid-2015, according to Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble. Speaking to Gamer Syndrome, Gamble provided "rough idea on a release window" with the following estimate:
.
"Late 2014 to mid-2015. I honestly can't tell you an exact because full development on the game started a month or two ago."
.
In September BioWare outed a new Mass Effect game from series executive producer Casey Hudson, and in November we learned it would run on Frostbite, from BioWare Montreal rather than Edmonton, which handled the previous iterations.
.
"While I can't comment on why it changed studios, fans can expect a similar style of choices and action that they've come to know in Mass Effect," Gamble said. "Casey Hudson is very much involved in the new Mass Effect game, as well as many from Edmonton. BioWare Montreal is a great studio and they did fantastic with the multiplayer for Mass Effect 3, so fans should know the series is in good hands.
.
"The game isn't far along in development so I can't comment on specifics because they isn't any yet. Frostbite 2 is a really good game engine that we are also using on Dragon Age 3. As far as release date, there's nothing to be announced yet. You'll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013."
"fans can expect a similar style of choices and action that they've come to know in Mass Effect"?  Not exactly sure if that's good news or not.  They're moving along a little too fast for my liking, they now appear to be cranking out game missions like DLC missions, saying that the "fans should know the series is in good hands" doesn't sound very convincing.  Moving the entire project over to BioWare Montreal sounds like they plan to shift even more of the focus over to the Multiplayer aspect, just a matter of time before they spring a Co-op "leak" to the media to desensitize us to the idea.  Hype is what sold MASS Effect 3 because it sure wasn't the rave reviews and I think that we can expect even more of it for this next game, it'll be interesting to say the least...:-)

"Thoughts?"

I'm crying on the inside.

its too early for me to start hating, but its hard not to.    I am not pleased with the direction Bioware has taken both the Dragon Age franchise and Mass Effect.  I will be seriously surprised if ME4 is not a third person co-op shooter with minimal RPG elements.  Pretty sure ME4 will drop on the next generation of consoles so they might try to offset the lameness with flash graphics, but who knows.

My guess is more MP emphasis based on it being given to Montreal.  I actually wouldn't complain if it were MP focused, developed, and sold that way.  What we'll likely end up with is a hybrid... Maybe some drop=in/out coop.

Hard to tell it's obviously going to be on the nextgen xbox, who knows what the capabilities are.

I don't have high hopes for the writing/story in any event.

Looking ahead to 2015, I'll be much more interested in the data stream coming from the 'New Horizons' space probe which makes the first ever close flyby of the Pluto/Charon System, that's gonna be excellent.  Especially amazing when you consider that Percival Lowell's work only just led to the discovery of Pluto 85 years ago, and we're all ready doing a flyby?!  Could the MASS Relays be only just around the corner?...:-)

I really just want an  RPG. Is that too much to ask?  Well, at least I got my DS for that. *plays more Shin Megami Tensei.

Considering the "fans can expect a similar style of choices..." quote, comes from people whose quotes of "16 endings..." and "Not your typical A, B, C choice endings" barely held truth at all (IMO) and were used against them all over the internet, I don't even think I'll go so far as to say "Not exactly sure if that's good news or not" personally. Been there, heard it once before. At this point in time I will LOL at it and call it no news at all.

Until something that actually provides substance as to what exactly we'll be dealing with, I'll reserve judgment.

At this point it's entirely far too early in development for me to make this or that stance based on what they are saying that they have planned, because as we all should know anything is possible and anything can change regardless of what they may say 2-3 years before a product is actually sent out and in our disc trays. They can say this or that, but in reality none of it holds any truth until we the consumers play it for ourselves.

One thing that's sure to be different this time around is that expectations will be far less than they were for this last game, that in itself should merit a warmer reception...:-)

I'm not optimistic about it either. Isn't the creating studio the same one that gave us Omega DLC?
