New to XBOX Live - keep geeting the message 'current user profile is not allowed to play on xbox live

Can anyone help please.

Only joined in the last couple of days.  I have received the free 1 month membership which I believe is a gold membership so I should be able to play muiltiplayer games.

I have tried looking at everything.  I am trying to play call of duty and I am an adult and my avatar says as such.  What could I be doing wrong, thanks

Is this the account you are having the problem with?, because I am afraid this is a silver account which wont let you play online MP.
Did you create this profile on your console or laptop?, I only ask because you need to create it on your console to receive the free month of gold.

It seems it you want the trial you will need to make another account using your console.

With no profiles signed in select 'join xbox LIVE'.
Then follow the on screen prompts.
When asked what membership you want select 'free' then continue following the steps.
Once this is done you should get a message saying 'would you like a free month trial', select yes.
Done.

Also is your console brand new?, if it is you can create up to 3 new accounts and receive a free month for each.

When creating a new account be sure to use a new wlid that is not currently attached to any other accounts, because 2 can not share the same wlid.

If you have any problems let us know but you should be good to go.
