My Games Won't Play

I have been having a lot of trouble with getting my games to play lately.  The XBox likes to switch between saying that it is unable to read the discs or that it needs to makes some sort a small, usually a 2 to 4 mb download, and then won't finish the download.  I have done everything from clear the cache and remove the hard drive, I don't have any external storage drives. This has been happening with a majority of games that are in good, clean condition, and I have also unplugged and replugged in the system.  I'm out of ideas.

I have the original X Box 360.  The games vary.  It has happened with Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War 1 and 2, Fable 2,   Mortal Combat v. DC, Soul Caliber 4, and Fall Out New Vegas.  I gave up when it did it to all those

You may have a corrupt profile. Try deleting the profile and recovering your GamerTag and seeing if that helps. Also, do you have the hard drive space available to complete the downloads?

The majority of the games have been cleaned in one of those cleaning machines.  My hard drive still has close to 50 gb free on it.  How would you delete the profile and then recover the gamertag?

go to My Xbox > System Settings > Memory > Hard Drive > Gamer Profiles and then Recover the gamertag.

But i highly doubt you have a corrupt profile but it's worth a try though.

Hey MIKE, for those disc read issues, I highly recommend taking a few minutes to work through this guide as well. Also, have you tried using an alternate memory device, such as a USB drive configured for use with Xbox 360, for those updates?
