My console says disc could not be read when i try to play the GTA iv game which I downloaded from the games marketplace

Like it says in the description my console wont play the game i downloaded from the marketplace. it stopps the game while i am in the middle of playing it and it displays the "disc could not be read" warning. I have tried all of the steps shown on the support site and im in need of help!

Any ideas?

- Clarification on "Is your game a RETAIL copy, or GOD Game(Games on Demand)"

- The game use to work properly or its been doing since the beginning?

- Have you done any major updates on your Xbox or downloaded a TU(Title Update) for the game?

- it is an original xbox 360 console

- the game is a retail copy

-i just downloaded it 2 days ago and it has been displaying the error message from the start and sometimes freezing

- the only update was when i first started the game it said the game needed to be updated

Thank you for answering but still I need to know one more thing. You say you "downloaded' the game. So, do you have a disc, or downloaded the game from marketplace?

I think he's saying that he INSTALLED the game, not downloaded it. I have the same exact problem, so I wanna see this topic move along :-)

Hey OSHLOB! Clarification on if this is a disc or GonD would still be helpful as I'm not 100%! Since I'm about 90% sure it's a disc copy, can I have you try the following steps:

1. Move any and all game files to a USB configured for use with Xbox 360.

2. Delete the game.

3. Clear the console cache.

4. Re-download the game from download history.

Then let us know if this helps!
