Minecraft

My son has been playin Minecraft on his tablet fine but now we keep getting a license error saying Microsoft cant verify that we own microsoft on this device. Have tried reconnecting etc as the message suggests but not working.

Which kind of tablet is he playing on (Windows, Android, iOS, etc.)?

Hi Rachael,

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. As your son is using Minecraft on an Android device, this would mean that he is using the Minecraft: Pocket Edition and needs to be signed into the game using the credentials (username & password) that are associated with his Xbox Live Gold subscription so that he will have access to play online. 

If you're already familiar with the log in information, then would it be possible for you to let us know the exact error message that is received when attempting to log in, as well as when?

If you believe that the account log ins are incorrect for the Microsoft account, then I would recommend our Lost Password Solution, or Lost Account Solution if you aren't familiar with the email address used for log in. If you know the information already, then there may be an issue with the Minecraft log in for Mojang. You can always reach out to them for assistance with that, should you need it. Yes he is logged onto xbox.live on his xbox. Message says. License error. We are having trouble verifying that you own minecraft on this device. Make sure that you have downloaded and installed minecraft from the microsoft store.

Hello Rachael,

IS your son trying to download Minecraft also on the Xbox. If this is the case he will need to purchase the Xbox copy. Each device has their own copies PC, phone, Xbox Switch. This is usually why this error comes about.

We already have purchased both copies hence tge reason it has been working fine till today

Hi Rachael,

That's great was making sure that wasn't the issue. Do you see the purchase in the play store still? If so you could try to uninstall and reinstall Minecraft on the tablet. Other than that, you may want to get in contact with Mojang support.

Yes can see it. Tried uninstalling etc. Thanks will try microsoft.

If you're not having issues with any other games on the tablet other than Minecraft, uninstalling it and reinstalling it should do the trick.

Refer to How to uninstall and reinstall a game in Windows 10 for the steps.

I have tried that but it didnt work. Everytime it starts to load it comes up with the licence error
