I've read a bunch of posts about problems with connecting to smartglass and am hoping someone can help me. I have a Surface 2 and a 360. Both are on the same network, the 360 has smartglass and play to set to on. They are both using the same login. My Surface can see the 360 listed under devices on my network but when I try to connect thru the app, it says it can't find the console. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I am using the 360 app, not the One app. I spent 1 1/2 hrs on the phone last night with both Xbox support and Surface support and they couldn't figure it out. Basically, xbox just checked to make sure the console was set up and the login was correct, sent me to surface who checked that the app was correct and sent me back to xbox.
When I go to xbox games on the surface, my gamertag and avatar show up so I know they both have the same info. I'm going to try tonight to see if my iphone can connect and see if that isolates the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Since the Xbox shows up on the Surface under devices, I would think that means it is not my network but I'm not sure. And I asked support if you had to have a gold membership but the person who helped me didn't know. Could that be the issue?
