Is The Time Right For A New Killer Instinct?

Every time a gaming magazine or a website speaks of a new "killer game" or "fighting game reboot" most gamers think of Killer Instinct a game that can claim it sold more copy's than Super Street Fighter 2 on the snes. A game that although lacked depth was fun and had an awesome feature in the combo breaker.

With the success of MK9 and the huge fighting game revival we currently see our selfs in is the time right for a KI reboot?

More importantly are Rare the right company to do it?

Killer Instinct, ClayFighter or BIO F.R.E.A.K.S. You could literally bring back any fighting game from the 90's that isn't Virtua Fighter, Soul Caliber, Street Fighter or Tekken, and it would be awesome.

No. It would not get the love and attention that an old-school game on the (would be) rebound needs/deserves. It would just be thrown out on the market as a quick cash-grab aimed at nostalgic fans inbetween the yearly installments of other, more popular, IPs.

If it was anywhere near as popular as people think it is then it would've been re-released by now.

Rare would not do it anyway, they are too caught up making cruddy Kinect games..

Would love to see a new Killer Instinct though, or even just the old one for XBLA even.

CO-CO-CO-CO COMBO BREAKER!!!!!

It's time for an XBLA game. It's not time for a retail game. It's not time for any fighter to have a retail game....unfortunately Capcom keeps pumping them out.

Theres never a bad time to release a new KI.

It was very popular.  The reason KI hasn't been released again is b/c from what I hear MS has Rare doing more important stuff......like avatar games or whatever crap they are working on.

Why do people still have hopes for the Rare during the Nintendo era? seriously its been like 10 years since MS acquired them and they haven't produced a single piece of quality product, everything they've made so far is average.

.

Old Rare is dead, end of story, no more Killer Instinct, no more Conker's Bad Fur Day, etc.

.

Time to move on people.

Hypocrisy: prejudice with a halo.

If I were to count the two sports titles in your recent playlist, Madden and NHL by how many have been released in the past decade by EA, at the very least it would be 20.

If you don't like Street Fighter or Capcom FG's, just say so. Stop trying to hide behind some falseness that you've created to try to fool others, or yourself.
