Installed game issue: Batman Arkham city.

OK here goes,

My nephew can not play Batman Arkham city if the game is installed on the HDD. He launches the game but it just goes to a black screen and does not load. All other games work fine from the HDD and boot up as normal, this is the only one that has any issues.

Things that have been tried.

Deleting and re-installing the game to the HDD, (multiple times).
Deleting the title specific update.
Clearing the entire system cache.
The game disc has been checked, there are no marks etc on the disc.
All DLC for the game has been deleted and re-downloaded several times.
Checked the HDD for any corrupt files (there are none).

When loading the game without it being installed it works just fine, but for certain reasons (mainly the noise of the drive) he needs to play his games from the HDD.

Any ideas peeps?.

Cheers. :)

Hi Grey! This is a serious pickle, but I have an idea. Could you have your nephew try deleting the game, installing a different game that is similar in size, then installing Arkham City? This would help if there was a bad sector on the HDD right where it is trying to install AC. :)

Hey Miss P, indeed it is a proper pickle :(.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will give that a go in the morning and report back. Fingers crossed that will solve it for him, I was completely stumped with this one.

Cheers :D.

Hi,
Unfortunately that didn't help :(. He only has a 20GB HDD so when I installed another game there wasn't room to install a 2nd.

So I installed a different game roughly the same size and it worked OK off the HDD. I then deleted that then tried Batman again and same issue with the black screen. It was worth a shot though so thanks for the suggestion :).

He will just need to play from the disc without installing.

[/quote]No I havn't tried that yet fella. I will give it a shot though and let you know how it goes. He will have to forgo the catwoman dlc if it does help :P.

Cheers Vern I'm willing to try anything that might help reduce the bzzzzzzzzzz coming through the ceiling from his room lol. I know its not a big issue and he could just play from the disc, but the drive noise is horrendous (older xbox and it has seen better days).

It works when the DLC is deleted so nice going fella.
I don't get it though, the DLC is not corrupt or anything so why would having it on the HDD cause this issue, any ideas?..

The gutter is I bought him the Catwoman and Nightwing DLC at a pretty cost to myself, and they are now pretty much useless. But at least he can play the game so its a result of a kind at least.

Cheers Vern owe you one pal :).
