Indycar Series 2005

I have been trying to get Indycar Series 2005 to work on my 360. Everything I've read says that it is backwards compatible, but I have not been successful. The console will read the disc correctly. Every time I start it, the original Xbox logo will appear, but then I receive the message,

"This original Xbox game has encountered a problem and can't continue. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support.

X: 5829.0 B: 1884.0"

I took the game to a second console, and it would not even read the disc as being in the tray.

I removed and reinstalled the update, and was finally prompted that Indycar Series 2005 needed an update. However, even with this update, I still receive the same error message.

The hard drive is used, but from Gamestop. It plays Xbox games that outdate this one with no problem.

Can you try the disc on a friend's console who also has an official HDD, to see if the same issue occurs there? Also, is the disc dirty, scratched, or marked at all?
