IGN Mass Effect 3 Preview

Source

Interesting read about combat, as that's pretty much all that's covered in the article.

Oh yeah and my favorite snippet from it:

"Then there are the grenades. Mass Effect 3 sees a series debut for actual, round, conventional grenades. This adds yet another combat option to the game that changes the way Shepard can engage with enemies, and adds a new tactical wrinkle to flanking and other maneuvers."

Now I don't think they'll be ME 1 grenades considering it says "actual, round, conventional grenades", but certainly anything is better than the non-existent grenades apart from the grenade launcher and grenades from using powers in ME 2 that I found to not be the greatest replacement.  At least in my view.

Did I read that right?  A Krogan Princess?  Now that's something I wouldn't have expected.  Wonder what her crown is gonna look like.  The big variable here is that person saying how different ME3 is from the other two, but I guess there's quite a bit of difference between the first two, so maybe this isn't such a bad thing...:-)

Very excited now. I love the instant kill melees. Enough reason to play every class. I wonder how that will handle mini bosses like Heavy Mechs.

I really want to try that "holdin' down the B Button" knockback blow...:-)

Yeah a Krogan and Princess is quite an odd combination, but I won't judge lol.

As for the differences, it's nothing but something expected at this point in my opinion.

They are marketing Mass Effect 3 as Shooter meets RPG, you can just tell from all of the information that's been revealed, so it's of no surprise to me that within the article above the combat is explained to be more refined and precise than it has ever been and more so than the changes that occurred from ME 1 to ME 2 which were pretty drastic, and I won't get into that it's a topic that's been driven into the ground too much.

Now with that said, I do hope they at least start focusing on the "RPG" side of things and detailing those a bit more as it does seem like up until this point coming on less than a week until E3 it's mainly been about the combat and little story aspects here and there.

That's just my personal wants and hopes though, other people are different.

Not a fan of some of the comments. "Now I am sure the RPG whiners will complain even more."  That hurt my feelings :(

I wonder if this is one of the side quests. Not very pressing to saving the galaxy from the Reapers, but still important to the races. If you save the Krogan princess, I bet the Krogan would want to help you some more.

The melee system does look intriguing I would have to agree.

I was thinking that the new melee would just be hitting people the the butt of your gun, but it looks a lot better than that. Looking forward to the Adept energy thingies.

[/quote]I tend to stay away from the comments on articles on gaming websites.  It's usually for the most part the same drivel you'd find on Youtube videos in the comment sections.

Good point. All they ever are a people complaining, or spazzing out.

This was a nice connecting article. Less on combat, more on everything else. pc.ign.com/.../1172087p1.html

I just read this on the Facebook page about a minute ago. Sounds good! I'm kind of interested to see this Krogan princess lol.
